When the whole ground is watching and the cameras are rolling, the lighting has to perform. SBE designs and installs high-performance floodlighting for stadiums, arenas, and senior venues across Ireland, built for the demands of competition and broadcast.
We delivered the floodlighting at Thomond Park, the home of Munster Rugby, one of the country’s landmark sporting venues. A stadium is a different level from a club pitch, and it takes the right experience to get it right. That is exactly what we bring.
Lighting built for the big occasion.
Stadium lighting asks far more of a system than club floodlighting does. The light levels are much higher, the uniformity has to be tighter, and glare control has to be precise, so players can perform at the top level and every spectator sees every moment clearly.
Competition play generally calls for around 500 lux, and televised events need considerably more again. We carry out a full lighting design for your venue and confirm the exact levels, uniformity, and glare control it will achieve for your competition and your governing body, whether that is rugby, GAA, soccer, or another code.
Broadcast-ready.
Television changes the brief entirely. Cameras need high vertical illuminance to capture players and the ball cleanly, and modern coverage demands flicker-free light that holds up under super slow-motion replay, along with high colour rendering and the right colour temperature so the picture looks true.
Our LED systems are designed for exactly this, flicker-free and broadcast-ready, from HD through to 4K. We design to the standards your broadcaster and governing body set, so when the venue is on air, the lighting is never the weak link.
More than a pitch of light.
A modern LED stadium system does far more than illuminate the field. It switches on instantly with no warm-up, dims and zones for different events, and can even drive lighting effects for player entrances and big moments. We design in the resilience a stadium needs, with backup and redundancy so a televised fixture never goes dark, and we light the concourses and surrounds so the spectator experience is right from the car park to the final whistle.

Our turnkey approach is the same as on any project: we handle the design, the planning, the installation, and the commissioning. Grant-funded projects typically run on an 18 to 24 month cycle from first enquiry to switch-on, so it pays to start early. We will always give you a realistic timeline.
Do you handle planning permission?
Yes. We prepare the application and the light-spill drawings and manage the process with your local authority.
What sports do you cover?
